Here’s How to Open Menu Link in New Tab on WordPress Website

It’s actually very easy to set any menu link to open in a new tab in WordPress. And the best part is that you don’t need to install any plugin to achieve this. All you need to do is turn on a basic setting inside your WordPress admin dashboard.

Log in to your WordPress admin panel and navigate to Appearance > Menu. This is the place from where you manage all your website menus.

By default, you won’t see the “Open link in a new tab” option for the menu items. It’s actually hidden, and that’s why many people think this feature is not available in WordPress.

Let me tell you how to turn it on so that you can easily set menu links to open in a new tab on your WordPress website.

So, now on the same Menu page, look at the top right corner of the screen. You’ll see two options there: Screen Options and Help. Just click on the Screen Options button.

You’ll find multiple settings out there. Among them, you’ll see a Link Target checkbox. Just tick this box and exit the Screen Options.

That’s all. Whenever anyone clicks on those menu links, they will always open in a new tab. But it’s not recommended to use this setting for all menu links. I personally don’t recommend opening internal links in a new tab. You should only use this setting for external menu links.
